2015 February visit Soong Ching Ling Foundation official site report

Through the invitation from Sun Yat Sen Museum Penang, Malaysia, twelve representatives (3 adults, 9 students) from the Beijing Youth Center visited Malaysia (Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Taiping and Ipoh) from 6 February, 2o15 to 13 February, 2015. The main objective of this visit was to improve the relations between the China and Malaysian students of the Soong Ching Ling Foundation Summer Camp, through a youth exchange programme organized by the Soong Chin Ling Foundation, China, and the Sun Yat Sen Museum Penang, Malaysia. Penang was one of the locations that was visite by the China students and they experienced cultural interactions with local Penang students, from Penang Chinese Girls’ Private High School.

On this trip, the China and Malaysian students of the Soong Ching Ling Foundation Summer Camp had the opportunity to meet and interview the Chairman of Wawasan Education Foundation (WEF), Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon. During the interview, Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon answered questions raised by the students regarding traditional cultures, modern civilization, youth education development and others. In the eyes of the China and Malaysian students of the Soong Ching Ling Foundation Summer Camp, Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon is a humble, knowledgeable, and friendly person. It was a pleasant conversation between Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon and the students.

The China students of the Soong Ching Ling Foundation Summer Camp experienced school life in Penang Chinese Girls’ Private High School by attending several classes, such as Chinese, English, Malay, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Politics classes. Moreover, the China students from the Beijing Youth Center visited the Sun Yat Sen Museum together with the students from Penang Chinese Girls’ Private High School.

The students visited many interesting places in Penang, such as the Sun Yat Sen Museum, Chocolate Museum, Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi, Pinang Peranakan Mansion and more. During the eight day trip, the students of the Soong Ching Ling Foundation Summer Camp enjoyed their time with each other and it was a good chance to improve their understanding of each country’s cultures.
