Introduction to Soong Ching Ling China Foundation and Sun Yat Sen Museum Penang Cooperation

Origins of cooperation between Soong Ching Ling and Sun Yat Sen Museum Penang

In order to increase the global interaction between China (Soong Ching Ling Foundation) and Malaysia (Sun Yat Sen Museum Penang), a range of interactive activities were developed and participated by the students of Penang Chinese Girls’ Private High School as the representatives to China.  Soong Ching Ling China Foundation organized the first International Youth Camp in 1991 and has lasted until today. The beginning of the global cooperation started with China and Japan, and Korea got involved in this global cooperation afterwards, as well as France, Macao, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, Hong Kong and others.

The Sun Yat Sen Museum Penang signed an agreement with the Soong Ching Ling Foundation of China which allows for various activities and programmes to be organized to forge a stronger relationship between China and Malaysia through their partnership and cooperation. One of the programmes that resulted from this valuable partnership is the International Youth Exchange Programme.

The special youth camp is held each year since 2011 and usually lasts one week. It is participated by students from Penang Chinese Girls’ Private High School (PCGPHS) and students from China. Every year, one group of Malaysian students will travel to China for a cultural exchange programme and a group of Chinese students will travel to Malaysia and stay with PCGPHS students and their families.
